The big day. I was going to try to put it off longer, say October-ish, so that we'd have someone else here to help with Griffon, but fate had a different plan in mind. Earlier today I had the worst gallbladder attack yet. I spent most of the day in the ER. After the attack passed they gave me two choices - stay overnight and have surgery tomorrow, or wait until Monday.

My daughter's 10th birthday party is on Saturday, so it wasn't a difficult choice for me.

I'm not allowed to eat anything but non-fat and very low fat foods. I bought a bunch of vegetarian stuff for the weekend so I'm happy with that (Morning Star hot dogs are excellent, by the way).

I go in at 6 am Monday for prep, and my surgery is at 7:30. I'm allotted 23 hours to stay there before it switches from an hourly room rate (which we're still not sure exactly how much it is) to the overnight rate ($1200 a day). Here's hoping for a quick recovery from the surgery so I can go home right away.

Night is going to take Monday, possibly Tuesday off from work. Hopefully I'll be functional enough after that to take care of Griffon on my own.
